These Instant Pot Salsa Pork Chops are a sibling of my popular recipe for Slow Cooker Salsa Pork Chops and both of those are a cousin of the Instant Pot Salsa Chicken and Slow Cooker Salsa Chicken that have also been super popular on the blog!

And I’m guessing everyone who likes pork chops is going to love this simple new recipe where you brown seasoned pork chops, put them in the Instant Pot with low-sugar salsa and fresh lime juice, cook under pressure for just 2 minutes, then remove the pork chops to a baking dish, cover with cheese, and broil just until the cheese is melted. Doesn’t that sound easy and delicious?

We browned the pork chops in a pan on the stove for the best browning, but you can brown them in batches in the Instant Pot if you don’t want to dirty another pan. And if your family likes pork chops, I hope you’ll try this tasty way to cook them. I ate one of my leftover pork chops for breakfast the next day, that’s how good they were!

What Salsa did I use for the Salsa Pork Chops?

I used my favorite Pace Picante Sauce (affiliate link) as the salsa for this recipe, but you can use any salsa that’s low in sugar. (Check out Low-Carb Recipes with Pace Picante Sauce to see other favorites I’ve made using this favorite salsa.)

What Instant Pot did I use?

I use a 6 Quart Instant Pot for all my Instant Pot Recipes. Check out Instant Pot Recipes to see all the recipes I’ve made in the Instant Pot. Or you can Find more Instant Pot Recipes on my other site!

How to make Instant Pot Salsa Pork Chops:

(This is only a summary of the steps for the recipe; please scroll down for complete printable recipe. Or if you use the JUMP TO RECIPE link at the top of the page, it will take you directly to the complete recipe.)

  1. Trim excess fat from pork loin sirloin chops (as desired) and rub with spices.
  2. Heat olive oil and brown pork chops well. (We browned them in a frying pan, which was quicker but brown in two batches in the Instant Pot if you prefer.)
  3. Spray Instant Pot with non-stick spray and put browned pork chops in the bottom of the Instant Pot. (Spray Instant Pot before browning if you’re doing that in the Instant Pot.)
  4. Combine Pace Picante Sauce (affiliate link) with lime juice. (I used my fresh-frozen lime juice for this.)
  5. Pour salsa mixture over pork chops.
  6. Lock lid on the Instant Pot and set to MANUAL, HIGH PRESSURE, 2 minutes.
  7. Let Instant Pot NATURAL RELEASE ten minutes, then release the pressure.
  8. Turn on broiler and put pork chops in a broiler-safe baking dish.
  9. Turn Instant Pot to SAUTE, HIGH and cook 5 minutes to reduce the sauce.
  10. Spoon thicker parts of the sauce over the pork chops in the baking dish. (You won’t need all the sauce.)
  11. Sprinkle with grated Mexican Blend Cheese.
  12. Broil just until cheese is melted.
  13. Serve hot, with extra sauce on the side.

Make it a Low-Carb Meal:

Salsa Pork Chops would be delicious with low-carb side dishes like Spicy Mexican Slaw, Easy Cheesy Baked Keto Cauliflower, or serve them over Easy Cauliflower Rice to soak up the sauce.

Instant Pot Salsa Pork Chops are an easy dinner that's guaranteed to be a hit with the whole family.

Ingredients

  • 6 boneless pork loin sirloin chops
  • 3/4 tsp. ground cumin
  • 3/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • salt and fresh-ground black pepper to taste (see notes)
  • 1 T olive oil
  • 1 1/2 cups Pace Picante Sauce
  • 3 T fresh-squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 cup grated Mexican Blend Cheese

Instructions

  1. Trim excess fat from pork loin sirloin chops (as desired) and rub with a mixture of ground cumin, garlic powder, salt, and fresh ground black pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add pork chops and cook until well-browned on each side. (Browning improves flavor, so I don't recommend skipping this step. You can brown the pork chops in two batches in the Instant Pot if you prefer.
  3. Spray Instant Pot with non-stick spray. (Do this before browning pork chops if you're browning them in the Instant Pot.)
  4. Put browned pork chops in the bottom of the Instant Pot.
  5. Combine Pace Picante Sauce (other other low-sugar salsa) with fresh-squeezed lime juice. (I used my fresh-frozen lime juice for this.)
  6. Pour salsa mixture over pork chops.
  7. Lock lid on the Instant Pot and set to MANUAL, HIGH PRESSURE, 2 minutes.
  8. When time ends, let Instant Pot NATURAL RELEASE for ten minutes, then release the pressure.
  9. Turn on broiler and put pork chops in a broiler-safe baking dish.
  10. Turn Instant Pot to SAUTE, HIGH and cook 5 minutes to reduce the sauce.
  11. Use a slotted spoon to spoon thicker parts of the sauce over the pork chops in the baking dish. (You won't need to use all the sauce.)
  12. Sprinkle with grated Mexican Blend Cheese.
  13. Broil just until the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes but watch it carefully if you have a powerful broiler.
  14. Serve hot, with extra sauce on the side and diced avocado, sour cream, or Green Tabasco Sauce (affiliate link) to add at the table if desired.

Notes

I used about 1/2 tsp. salt and slightly less black pepper. I love Pace Picante Sauce (affiliate link) but any low-sugar salsa will work for this recipe.

This recipe adapted from the popular recipe for Slow Cooker Salsa Pork Chops.
