Kalyn’s Kitchen Turns 19! (Which recipe is your favorite?)
It’s hard to believe, but today I’m celebrating 19 years of creating recipes and sharing them on Kalyn’s Kitchen! And if you want to give me a birthday wish, I’d love to know which recipe from my site has become a favorite at your house.
PIN Kalyn’s Kitchen Turns 19 to find it later!
How Kalyn’s Kitchen Started:
On April 24, 2005, I sat down at the computer and typed out the recipes my friends had been asking for into a simple website, and Kalyn’s Kitchen was born. And what a great adventure it’s been for the last 19 years! Each year when I write this anniversary post I talk about how grateful I am for the support and kind feedback I’ve received, and what a life-changing undertaking food blogging has been for me.
How it’s Going Now:
As the internet has evolved, blogging has gotten harder, more frustrating, and more competitive every year, so in my last anniversary post I asked readers to support the site by doing things that make a big difference in the success of a website. The response has been wonderful, and I appreciate everyone who’s helping out in those ways! And I’m also grateful for the support of my family, especially my talented brother Rand who has the dreamy voice you hear narrating the videos and reels on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
My 2024 Birthday Request:
Nothing is more gratifying to a recipe creator than hearing from readers about recipes they love and make over and over! So for my 2024 birthday, I’m asking you to let me know in the comments on this post about the recipe that’s your favorite from this site.
What’s Ahead for Kalyn’s Kitchen:
Every year people ask me how long I plan to keep this site going, and even though I’ve slowed down the last few years to work on my bucket list I’m hoping to make it to 20 years of blogging for sure! And I repeat my pledge from earlier years that I will do all I can to keep my recipes online as long as possible, even if there comes a time when I’m not actively blogging.

I’ve made your grilled sriracha turkey meatballs so many times. I usually make them in a pan on the stovetop. An easy, delicious recipe. Congratulations on this milestone!
Thanks Kris! So glad you have been enjoying the recipe!
I started South Beach Diet in 2007 and gratefully found your blog shortly there after. I make soooo many of your recipes it is hard to know which I make the most. However, PARMESAN CRUSTED DELICATA SQUASH is really a favorite that I always make a few times each squash season. Love it!
Thank you for your dedication to great recipes. I’ve lost over 100 pounds, but more importantly, I am eating healthy!
I so love hearing that! Thanks for letting me know the recipes have been helpful for you.
My favorite recipe is still the Cafe Rio salad dressing recipe. And it is the reason I found your blog in the first place, years and years ago. It was probably somewhere around 2008 that I started following your blog.
And my second favorite post of yours, is the one where you moved to a condo and showed what you home, but especially the kitchen looks like. I was captivated and still am! Such a fun post to read and I loved looking at the pics.
Glad you are enjoying the salad dressing recipe!
I am so happy with the condo life. I’ve done a few renovations since those photos were posted, and now I have an induction stove (which is amazing.)
Your Slow Cooker Taco Meat has been the only way my husband and I make taco meat for years now! We’re able to get 6 meals for the two of us out of one batch. We eat a portion the night of, and then I freeze the rest in portions so we always have easy-to-thaw taco meat on hand!
So glad you are enjoying it! I have made that so many times myself.
My favorite go to recipe is the marinade for chicken. Everyone raves about how moist the chicken is.
Thanks Sue, so glad you are enjoying the recipes!
My current favorite is the keto broccoli 3 cheese egg casserole. I’m having shoulder surgery soon & I’ll be in a sling for 4-6 wks . So I’m prepping future meals in the freezer. Keep up the good work!
Glad you are enjoying that casserole. Good luck with the shoulder surgery!
We’ve made the Cajun Shrimp monthly for about 10-15 years now!
Oh I do love hearing that! So glad you are enjoying it!
My FAVORITE recipe of Kalyn’s is her COTTAGE CHEESE BREAKFAST MUFFINS WITH HAM AND CHEDDAR. Anyone I have shared these with have gone nuts over them.
I love the almond flour in them! Terrific taste and they freeze quite well.
So glad you are enjoying that recipe!
I love so many of your recipes but the one that is currently on repeat is the asparagus, tomato, feta salad. We love it!
I love that salad too! So glad you are enjoying the recipes.
In 2017 I tried your. Recipe for ratatouille Wanna-Be stew, and still make it regularly, awesome! Also the Zucchini and Ground Beef Casserole is my favorite for a quick meal with lots of flavor.
Happy 19th I enjoy so many of your recipes that you are my go to when I need inspiration, thank you!
I’m so happy you are enjoying the recipes; thanks for the support!
Our favorite Kaylyn’s Kitchen recipe is
the Low-Carb Deconstructed Pizza Casserole. Very customizable to accommodate different taste buds. I also like being able to assemble it ahead of time so that all I have to do is bake it on busy evenings.
That’s definitely been one of my most popular recipes; so glad you are enjoying it!
HAPPY 19TH ANNIVERSARY KALYN! Thanks for replying to all that have responded to you and your recipes. It re-inspires me to look back and review others’ favorites. Like many, I don’t have a favorite, but look forward to your recipes each day. I began reading your blog as I followed with South Beach and everything low carb as I shared your journey so many years ago. I love how you’ve adapted to newer styles of cooking, and always check out your spices and marinades and sheet pan ideas. I would say all your egg dishes are my favorite with flavor, protein and cheese w/o starchy crusts. Yay to zucchini noodles and cauliflower rice ideas also. Congrats, Carol
So glad the site has been so useful for you Carol. Thanks for the years of support!
Happy 19th!! I have so many favourites it was hard to decide! I have over 100 of your recipes marked “5 stars” in my recipe manager. But the Peperoncini Chopped Salad with Romaine, Peppers, and Feta is definitely on the top of the list. When I bring to a potluck there is never any left and I always get asked for your recipe. Thank you for such a wonderful blog.
Thank you so much for that very kind feedback on the recipes! I am thrilled you are enjoying so many of them!
Happy anniversary! I’ve been following your blog for years, and my favorite recipes are your kale, bacon and cheese egg casserole, and one that’s not even accessible on the website anymore – the Greek Orzo salad, which you were kind enough to send me in PDF fomr. Both make regular appearances on our table.Thank you for all the help with eating healthfully!
Thanks for all the support Cathy. I hate the way Google has influenced blogging (which is why some recipes were removed) and lately I am just rebelling and ignoring some of the advice regarding them.
Happy 19th Kalyn!! My favorite recipe(s) are your egg bake casserole which are easy, flavorful & varied. I’ve been following you since I retired in November, 2005. Thank you so very much for your diligence.
Wow, thank you for the many years of support! And so glad you are enjoying the egg casseroles; those are a staple for me too.
This is a comment about my favorite recipe on the occasion of your 19th year – I have two – the sesame peanut noodles and the blueberry crisp in the little flat crock pot. Thanks for 19 years, I started reading your blog online ages ago!
Thanks Carol, I love those peanut noodles too. Glad you are enjoying the recipes!
Happy 19th Kalyn! We have been following you since going Keto in 2019. Many of your recipes are in our monthly rotation, however, the Instant Pot Ham and Cabbage Soup is number 1! Thank you for helping others in their low-carb quest!
My pleasure, so glad the recipes are helpful for you!
My favorite is the Easy Baked Pesto Chicken recipe! I usually roast some sweet peppers & onions alongside it for a side, and then the leftovers of both can be wrapped up in a low carb tortilla as a sort of fajita over the next few days.
Thanks Becki, and I love that idea for the leftovers!
Your recipes have really helped me a lot! I try so many of them. Please keep it going!
So glad you are enjoying them!
Yours was the first recipe blog I started following, over 15 years ago, even though I do not eat ‘low carb’.
My favorite all time recipe is your crockpot Turkey Sweet Potato stew. When I make a batch of anything, I usually bring a few portions to my mother to share, but I’m (not) ashamed to say that this is the one recipe batch I hoard all to myself!
So glad you are enjoying the recipes! And my goal is always to appeal to a lot of different ways of eating, so that makes me even more happy you’re enjoying the food.
Congratulations on 19 years! Your recipes are the best. One of my favorite casseroles is the Curry Chicken Broccoli Casserole. I also love all your egg bake recipes and the Goat Cheese Asparagus Tarts. And then there’s all the yummy soup recipes! Your blog is a definite ‘go to!’ Thanks for sharing so many great recipes!
Thanks so much Wendy! I’m so glad you are enjoying the recipes!
You have been a constant internet recipe finding place for many years in my house! I absolutely love how you divide them up with how the recipe fits into a certain way of eating. There’s been a few times you actually answered questions I had which I truly appreciated. Made me feel the “realness of the internet”. My favorite recipe (amongst lots of others) is Curried Lentil Soup with Cilantro. Best to you and what you do! 1️⃣9️⃣
Thanks Debbie; glad you are enjoying the site and now I want to make that soup!
Our family favorite is the Keto Ground Beef Casserole with green beans
So glad you are enjoying it!
There are so many that I use that it’s hard to pick just one favorite! I love the more recent ones where you use cauliflower versus potatoes for various dishes and casseroles! I also love the shrimp pasta salad!!
Thanks Nicole, glad you are enjoying them! And I think Shrimp and Macaroni salad is a hit with our entire family!
You have So many great choices. I couldn’t possibly pick just one!
I love your zucchini Fritata, bacon cheeseburger quiche, Rosemary mustard chicken, lemon rice, Trina’s cranberry salsa, easy cheesy zucchini and that is just naming a few! Every season I have some favorites like grilling recipes and soups, and salads! Too many to name!
Thanks for 19+ years of so many amazing recipes!
Thanks Val, and thanks for all your help and support too!
Congratulations! Your website is always my first stop when I’m in a “what’s for dinner” rut or want to try something new. Thank you for all of your work to make these recipes so delicious!
I first discovered your site in 2013 and I have several recipes in my binder that are regulars at our house. My old printouts still say 2013 on them. My family’s FAVORITE grilled chicken is the marinade from “Chicken Kabobs with Garlic and Basil”. It’s just nicknamed “favorite chicken”. We also love “Grilled Lime and Chipotle Pork Chops”. I make “Ham and Cauliflower Casserole au Gratin” and freeze individual servings for later. “Cheesy Low-Carb Broccoli and Cauliflower Soup” is another one I make in a large quantity and freeze. Your “My Favorite Herb Salad or Black Bean, Rice and Cilantro Salad” is amazing! My most recent new favorite is the “Zuppa Toscana Soup”. My husband doesn’t care for it, but I love it so I know when I make it I don’t have to share!
Thanks for being a loyal follower for so long! So glad you are enjoying the recipes.
Congratulation sis, and thanks for the kind words. I’m continually amazed by you, especially in light of the snarl that technology has brought into all our lives!
Just like others it’s REALLY hard for me to narrow down to my favorite, but I’d have to go with Spicy Grilled Eggplant. That wildly flavorful recipe is the one that turned me into more of an eggplant lover. And for runner ups, it has to be your version of Zuppa Toscana Soup, and the Fish Taco Bowl. These are absolute go-to recipes for me. Love you. And happy 19th.
Thanks so much Rand! I will never be able to thank you enough for the way your talent and knowledge has enhanced my blogging career!
Congratulations! My family enjoys so many of your recipes; but the absolute, all time favourite is your Baked Greek Meatballs with Feta! Thank you for sharing your journey with us all ❤️
I’m so glad you are enjoying that! Thanks for letting me know.
Happy 19th, Congratulations too!
I think you are the most inspiring creator of so many enticing recipes. The recipe I prepare over & over is your Pepperoni Quiche. Is’s so delicious! Thank you for all that you share!
Thanks for the kind thoughts Jane, so glad you are enjoying the recipes!
Darn, I’m not sure I can narrow down to one! Fish Taco Bowls are a heavy rotation as is the most delish Smoked Gouda Mashed Cauliflower! The variety of lettuce cups, casseroles and instant pot recipes!
Thank you Kalyn for starting and maintaining this wonderful repository of easy delicious low carb recipes! Your site is definitely one of about 4 that I check anytime I’m looking for something new or exciting… and have been doing for many many years!
I am so glad you have enjoyed so many recipes, thanks for the support!
I absolutely adore the Chicken Cordon Bleu. (and you)
Thanks so much, love you too!
The twice baked cauliflower is absolutely my favorite EVER!!! Thank you for all your work
You’re so welcome, glad you are enjoying it!
I love your recipes. The one that I use all the time is your southwestern quinoa salad.
So glad you are enjoying it, thanks!
Kalyn- I so appreciate your recipes. There are so many that are favorites. I love the soups, but I guess my favorite is the green beans with lemon, Parmesan cheese & pine nuts.
I love that too; glad you are enjoying it!
We have several favorites among your recipes, but Italian Sausage, Macaroni and Zucchini Soup is the one I make most frequently.
Thanks Annie, that’s always a hit when I take it to a party!
I remember when you first started! It’s incredible what you’ve created. My favorite recipe is the Greek Lemon Rice Soup.
Thanks Susan. You remember the early days; I never imagined it would last this long.
Happy 19th! I’ve followed your blog for at least 10 years! Some of our very favorites have been Greek Meatballs, American Greek Salad, Amy’s Amazing White Chicken Chili, Mexican Chicken Casserole just to name a few. I love cooking from your recipes. Thanks for all your hard work and making such delicious recipes for us to enjoy!
Thanks so much Julie. I really appreciate the support!
Congratulations, Kalyn! well, it is hard to pick a favorite, but those zucchini muffins with almond flour are a HUGE hit with me, I made three batches already and they are great for light lunches…
Nineteen years and still doing such amazing job! KEEP GOING!!!!!!!
Thanks Sally. I am not planning to retire any time soon, just planning to take more time off for traveling!
Happy 19th Birthday!!!!! One of my all time favorite recipes, which I cook every year for New Year’s Day, is your Hoppin’ John Soup – YUM!!!
So glad you are enjoying that and I hope you’re getting some good luck from it!
Happy 19th to your site!! It’s no surprise to me that you’ve outlasted many sites – you work hard to create delicious recipes that are easy to follow.
My favorites are still the Greek chicken foil packets and the cheesy zucchini bake – although I love nearly all of your zucchini recipes!
Thanks so much Christina!
Congrats on 19 years, Kalyn! WOW! I tried one of your recipes just this weekend, the spinach and mozzarella egg bake, it was delicious.
Thanks Nupur, so fun hearing from you!
I’ve enjoyed every recipe I’ve made. Sriracha in deviled eggs is off the charts. I top it with a slice of jalapeño. My friends always ask me to bring the deviled eggs. So many wonderful things to try. My favorite (currently) is the Zucchini and Yellow Squash soup. I’ve made, at least, three batches this month. Happy Birthday to Kalyn’s Kitchen!
Thanks for all the support; so glad you are enjoying the recipes.
There are so many of your recipes that I love, but the first one that popped into my mind is the stuffing muffins. I make these every Thanksgiving. I love how each one gets toasted, and the portion control this recipe creates.
I make those almost every year!
You and your recipes have blessed my life immensely. I could no more name of favorite recipe than I could choose a favorite of my children!! However, that being said, I do love your Loaded Cauliflower Potato Salad — any day, any season, anytime of the day. thanks for all your hard work sharing wonderful recipes with us.
Thanks for all the support Laurel; I am glad to know you have so many favorites.
Congratulations on this milestone! My favourite recipe would have to be your Twice Baked Cauliflower, but I haven’t found a dud yet!
Thanks for all the support; so glad you are enjoying the recipes Anna!
My favorite recipe from your site would have to be the CHICKEN PICCATA WITH FRIED CAPERS! You are right the fried capers take it to the next level!
Happy Birthday Kalyn!
Thank you, I love that one too!
