Welcome to the New-and-Improved Kalyn’s Kitchen!
[EDIT: This post was from the blog re-design in September 2017 when I moved my site to WordPress. in October 2021 I had another redesign for the site and added Filtered Recipe Search, plus more new features! I decided to keep this post here as part of the history of my site.]
If you’re reading this post, you’re seeing the new-and-improved Kalyn’s Kitchen on my WordPress site, and I’m so excited with the increased functionality that switching WordPress is going to give to my readers. Lindsay from Purr Design did a beautiful job on the site; thanks Lindsay!
As I mentioned, moving a huge site like Kalyn’s Kitchen involves a lot of little details to be straightened out, so if you find a link that doesn’t go to what you’re expecting, leave a comment on that post (or here) and let me know, we’ll get it straightened out as soon as we can.
Over the weekend I realized that I was going to have an amazing new Recipe Index, but most of my 2,000+ recipes on the site only had the Diet-Type tags, so lots of the recipe index pages wouldn’t have much for you to see. So I spent a long weekend in front of the computer tagging recipes (definitely a humbling experience when I got back to the earliest years!) I got about 10 years worth of recipes done in two very long days, so I hope you’ll visit the recipe index and check it out. And I will finish that job and refine the current tags when I catch my breath.
While you’re in the Recipe Index, click on a recipe and notice how every recipe will have orange Diet-Type tags at the top to show what types of diets that recipe is suitable for. If you’re following a particular type of diet, you can click that tag to see more recipes for that way of eating!
Eventually the site will have beautifully-formatted recipe (see an example in this recipe) but every recipe has to be switched to that manually, so even if I hire someone to do it, that will take a long time. Meanwhile, the previous recipes with a printer-friendly link will continue to work until they are replaced with the new format.
I hope you love the new site as much as I do. Thanks to my wonderful readers for all the support; this site wouldn’t exist without all of you! There’s still a lot of work to do, but I am hoping to have a new recipe posted here within a few more days!

Hello,ย
Love this site but one thing I wish the site had is a personal recipe box for my preferred keepers and those I want to try. ย I love surfing this site but so far have to print out everything. ย Am I missing how to or will you be offering that in the future?ย
You can create an account at Yummly.com (free) and save the recipes there. Or create a board on Pinterest for Kalyn’s Kitchen and save recipes there. I don’t think you’ll find many (if any) regular food blogs with a recipe box feature like you’re describing; that is beyond the technological capability of most bloggers. Definitely it’s not something I am planning on, but I do think you would get the same result using either Yummly or Pinterest, and I have buttons on each recipe (under the title) for those programs.
It would be great if your website had a way for users to store their favorite recipes from your website on your website! ย Pinterest can get so confusing with so many bad links sometimes! ย ย
Tracy, I’m sorry but that is not going to happen. Not only could it end up costing me lots of money every month (for the extra website costs for so much more storage) but it would be a technical challenge to add something like that to a site like this. You might try Yummly.com if you’re not a Pinterest fan. A lot of people love Yummly and it’s easy and gives nutritional info. There’s a yum button (orange) at the top of my posts, and once you sign up for a free membership, you just click that button to save the recipe.
Bless your heart and soul for taking the time to tag all of your recipes. I canโt even imagine what that was like. Ugh! The thought of it makes me hungry. Thankfully because of your dedication I stumbled upon this. Itโs 1:43am and Iโm eyeballing this beefy cheesy low carb green chili recipe. I canโt help but be tempted to make a lot of noise in the kitchen to make this delectable dish. Surely the aroma would wake my husband. Iโd better not. You can bet this is whatโs for dinner tomorrow ๐คคย
Anyhoo, thank you for sharing!
Karen, so glad it’s useful for you. I agree, cooking at 1:43 a.m. is probably not a good idea!
WOW Your new site looks amazing! It’s so professional looking at so easy to use! ย So when are you coming out with a cookbook ๐
Thanks Lisa! So glad you like it. I am pretty sure I’m not going to write a cookbook though. I already spend far too much time working on this site. I don’t want to spend my entire life working!
So far, I have loved every recipe (4 or 5 so far) that I have tried from your site. Thank you. I only have one comment: it is nice to have the choice of diet type, but it would be even nicer if one could look up a specific recipe item (such as chicken, ground beef, etc.) within that particular diet type. I tried to find keto chicken soup under Keto diet, and the recipe search kept going back to all recipes to look for chicken soup – pages and pages, most of which were not keto. Gave up on it after about 30 minutes and looked elsewhere. Other than that, great source for recipes. Again, thank you. S.
Glad you are enjoying the recipes. That kind of very detailed categorizing of recipes is never going to be possible, but you could use the regular search bar to narrow down your search. For example, try searching for “low-carb chicken soup” and then you can scroll through those options and find one that is Keto.
Congratulations, Kalyn. Your site is beautiful!
Thank you!
Your recipes are amazing and cannot wait to really have time to pour over the new website. Thanks for all you do!
Thank you! So glad you have been enjoying the recipes!

Your new site design is amazing!
Thank you! It’s the designer, not me! I am pretty much clueless.
The 502 error is currently being looked at by my web host and the designer.
Not sure what you mean by the recipe index not being in the top row? That seems fine to me.
Not going to add the ability to leave photos in comments, but you can e-mail me a screenshot (kalynskitchen – at – comcast – dot – net). Thanks
Thanks Marg; the designer is currently trying to figure out what is causing that error.
Congratulations! Your website looks beautiful and the recipe index is worth all the hard work. It’s fabulous! ๐๐
Thanks so much; so glad you like it!
