South Beach Phase One Recipes Round-Up from November 2008 (Low-Glycemic Recipes)

Kalyn’s favorite phase one recipe for November 2008
was Roasted Broccoli with Lemon and Pecorino-Romano cheese.

It’s that time when one month ends and another begins, and that’s when I share the South Beach Diet Phase One Recipes I’ve spotted during the month on other food blogs. There’s no doubt this is a smaller list than usual, probably due to all the Thanksgiving celebrating in the U.S., or perhaps I’ve been too distracted by my house renovations. Still, even with all the holiday food bloggers have been writing about, I managed to find a pretty good collection of dishes that could be eaten for phase one for anyone who’s looking for such things.

I doubt many people start a diet in December, but if you’re thinking you might give the South Beach way of eating a try in January, bookmark this list for reference later. As always, there are a few recipes here that can be made phase one by simply modifications; those changes are noted. Of course I can only spot a fraction of the recipes posted every month that are phase one options, so if you’re a food blogger who thinks you might have posted a phase one recipe that I missed, read the information after the recipe list for how to submit it to me.

Did I Miss Your Phase One Recipe?
Phase one menus for the South Beach Diet focus on lean meats, seafood, eggs, dried beans, soy products, low-fat dairy products, nuts and seeds, and most vegetables. Phase one doesn’t permit fruit, alcohol, bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, sugar, or any foods high in saturated fat. Obviously I can’t find every phase one recipe, so if you’re a food blogger who posted a recipe you think would be approved for phase one and I missed it, please feel free to e-mail me the link at kalynskitchen (at) comcast (dot) net. I’ll take a look, and if the recipe is phase-one friendly, I’ll add it to next months roundup. (Please don’t leave recipe links in the comments. They will not be published.)

  1. thanks! I started phase one this week because I got some test results from the dr that scared me into doing something now. I’m done with all my holiday parties this year anyway.

  2. Oooh, I do like the look of that cheesey roasted broccoli… Thanks for the mention btw 🙂
