South Beach Diet Phase One Recipes Round-Up for August 2010 (Low-Glycemic Recipes)

Kalyn’s favorite Phase One Recipe for August 2010
was Grilled Zucchini Greek Salad.

Each time the calendar turns over to a new month I add another post to the archives of Phase One Recipe Round-ups, spotlighting the phase one recipes I’ve posted on Kalyn’s Kitchen or spotted on other food blogs during that months. I always pick my favorite phase one recipe for the month to lead the post, but this time I had a very hard time choosing. I loved the Grilled Zucchini Pizza Slices, I made the Spicy Cannellini Bean Salad with Tuna, Peperoncini, and Parsley many times this summer, and I loved the Green Goddess Tomato Mozzarella Stacks. In fact, I posted ten Phase One Recipes this month, and loved them all, but I picked the Grilled Zucchini Greek Salad for the photo, because it’s a recipe I’d never get tired of, no matter how many times I ate it.

Of course, every month I find recipes that need only minor changes to make them South Beach Diet friendly, so those changes are noted after the recipe name. And there are always Phase One recipes that I don’t see, so if you’re a food blogger who’s posted something you think might be good for Phase One, see after the recipe links for how to submit it.

Did I Miss Your Phase One Recipe?
Phase one menus for the South Beach Diet focus on lean meats, seafood, eggs, dried beans, soy products, low-fat dairy products, nuts and seeds, and most vegetables. Phase one doesn’t permit fruit, alcohol, bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, sugar, or any foods high in saturated fat. Obviously I miss lots of phase one recipes, so if you’re a food blogger who posted a recipe this month that you think would be approved for phase one, please feel free to e-mail me the link at kalynskitchen (at) comcast (dot) net. I’ll take a look, and if the recipe is phase-one friendly, I’ll add it to next months roundup. (Please don’t leave recipe links in the comments. They will not be published.

Elle, I think you should lose more than 2 pounds in 11 days if you're doing phase one correctly. When I get stuck like that, I always get out the book and check the guidelines again. Good luck.

I made it to a dinner party I was invited to and everyone else loved it too – without being on any diet!

it is my 11th day on Phase one and i've lost only 2 lbs. It is somewhat disappointing since the book promised a lose of at least 7 lbs in the first two weeks.

I'm taking a two-day brake from the diet since it is my birthday and my husband and kids are cooking for me (!!!), but i'll be back on the diet Sunday morning.

  12. Thanks so much for including me in this round up Kalyn! I always love reading these because they hold such delicious recipes, even for those of us non-South Beachers!
