The Perfect Way to Cook Asparagus from “Simply Recipes”

I’ve been reading a lot of food blogs lately, and one of my favorites is Simply Recipes, written by a woman named Elise who is obviously very knowledgeable about food. She wrote recently about a great way to prepare asparagus that she had tasted at Selland’s Market-Cafe in Sacramento.

The asparagus was simply parboiled for 2 minutes, then tossed with Extra Virgin Olive Oil, fresh-grated parmesan cheese, lemon zest, and salt and pepper. I tried it last night when I was making dinner for a couple of friends, and they both said “You must put this on the blog so we can remember how to make it!” So here is the link to Elise’s recipe for perfectly cooked asparagus, originally from Selland’s Market-Cafe.

I don’t think Elise is into the South Beach Diet, but this recipe is completely South Beach Diet friendly and absolutely delicious. Thanks to Elise for sharing it with the world. It may become your new favorite way to cook asparagus.

  1. Kalyn, I always love asparagus and basically do this in the microwave.

    Thanks for reminding me. I couldn’t think of what do make with the grilled steak we’re having for dinner. My honey has been eating waaay more salad than he’s used to (or likes for that matter)
