This week the kids went back to school in the district where I used to teach. That makes me feel like summer’s over, even though I know the calendar says there’s nearly a month more of summer left. And I’m still getting summer veggies like zucchini, tomatoes, and cucumbers from my garden, so that makes it feel like summer.

But I feel the seasons starting to change. I have two doors with screens on them that lead to the deck from my kitchen and bedroom, and when the nights get cool I love to leave the doors open and let air circulate through the house at night. But this week I had to get up and shut the door into my bedroom because it was too cold. That makes me both happy that it’s not as hot as it was a few weeks ago and sad that it will soon be far colder than I want it to be!

And this time of the year I develop a bit of a split personality about recipes too. Last week’s Low-Carb Recipe Love was all about salads, but I actually (gasp) made two recipes that used the oven recently, and this weeks collection of yummy low-carb recipes features dishes that are all served hot, even though a couple of them are cooked on the grill.

Which brings me to this question: What’s your personal philosophy about food this time of year when the seasons are about to change? Are you someone who likes to hang on the foods of summer as long as you can? Or are you ready to embrace pumpkin and other fall flavors? Let me know in the comments if you’d like to weigh in on this important question! Then come back and check out the tasty offerings I found this week for Low-Carb Recipe Love on Fridays and maybe there will be something you’d like to add to your menu!

  1. Another comment from Alice! I have no idea why her comments are coming to my e-mail but not showing up here, so weird;

    "I made the Asiago Chicken tonight and followed the recipe. The flavors were good. I think this recipe would benefit from less liquid in the sauce. I tried reducing both the chicken stock and the mixture after I added the half and half and before adding the cheese, but it remained too thin. It did not make a spoonable sauce for the chicken. Alice"

    Thanks for the feedback Alice, good to know.

  2. Thanks for featuring my grilled green beans. I can't wait to try the other recipes this week.

  3. Not sure why but this comment from Alice came to my e-mail but hasn't showed up on the blog!

    I enjoy checking out your Friday offerings. The Asiago Chicken made it to the weekly meal planning list. It looks great, and I have many of the ingredients at home.

    Thanks Alice, glad you're enjoying the posts.
