Low-Carb Recipe Love on Fridays (8-26-16)
Every Friday we spotlight five low-carb recipes you might want to try! Use the Recipes-by-Diet-Type Index to find more recipes like these.
This week the kids went back to school in the district where I used to teach. That makes me feel like summer’s over, even though I know the calendar says there’s nearly a month more of summer left. And I’m still getting summer veggies like zucchini
, and cucumbers
from my garden, so that makes it feel like summer.
But I feel the seasons starting to change. I have two doors with screens on them that lead to the deck from my kitchen and bedroom, and when the nights get cool I love to leave the doors open and let air circulate through the house at night. But this week I had to get up and shut the door into my bedroom because it was too cold. That makes me both happy that it’s not as hot as it was a few weeks ago and sad that it will soon be far colder than I want it to be!
And this time of the year I develop a bit of a split personality about recipes too. Last week’s Low-Carb Recipe Love was all about salads
, but I actually (gasp) made two recipes
that used the oven recently, and this weeks collection of yummy low-carb recipes features dishes that are all served hot, even though a couple of them are cooked on the grill.
Which brings me to this question: What’s your personal philosophy about food this time of year when the seasons are about to change? Are you someone who likes to hang on the foods of summer as long as you can? Or are you ready to embrace pumpkin and other fall flavors? Let me know in the comments if you’d like to weigh in on this important question! Then come back and check out the tasty offerings I found this week for Low-Carb Recipe Love on Fridays and maybe there will be something you’d like to add to your menu!

This Caprese-Grilled Filet Mignon
from Cupcakes and Kale Chips combines some of the best flavors of summer! And outdoor grilling season will only be around for another month or two in most parts of the northern hemisphere, so make this soon!
As soon as I spotted these Grilled Green Beans with Spicy Peanut-Harissa Sauce
from my friend Lydia at The Perfect Pantry, I wanted to try them, and I bet some of you guys do too! Lydia used a little agave nectar in the peanut sauce, but you can sub for your preferred sweetener if you’d like.
Do you agree with me that this Asiago Chicken with Bacon Cream Sauce
from Julia’s Album looks absolutely amazing? And this is one of those easy stove-top dishes that are perfect for a work night dinner!
