How to Contact Kalyn

Thanks for Your Interest in Kalyn’s Kitchen!
Kalyn’s Kitchen is my personal blog, where I share recipes I’m cooking in my own kitchen. I hope my blog is a resource for anyone who likes the kind of creative carb-conscious recipes this blog is known for.

How to Contact Kalyn:
To contact me, send your e-mail to kalynskitchen (at) comcast (dot) net. (This address needs to be converted to normal e-mail format.)

Answering Questions from Readers:
I love to hear from people who are readers of Kalyn’s Kitchen and will do my best to answer simple questions, although I don’t have the training or the time to give full-fledged dieting advice. If your question is about a specific recipe, please consider leaving it as a comment on that post so others can benefit from the answer.

How to Leave a Comment:
To leave a comment, just click where it says “Leave a Reply” at the end of the post. Some comments will come to me in an e-mail and won’t show up on the blog until I publish them, and I’m not sitting by the computer waiting for comments 100% of the time, so thanks for your patience!

Reach me Through Social Media:
I try to check in with Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest a few times each day, and try to respond to people who reach me there, but I can’t always keep up with comments on social media so if you really need to reach me, leaving a comment on the blog or sending e-mail is better.

About Advertising on Kalyn’s Kitchen
If you are promoting a food-related product and would be interested in advertising on a network of food blogs, please contact She Media. I only accept advertising through this network, and  don’t sell text links or do sponsored posts of any type.

My Thoughts About Reviewing Cookbooks or Products
This blog is about what I’m cooking in my own kitchen, so I’m only interested in talking about cookbooks or products I’m personally using and would happily buy again. Because I have limited time to try new products or cookbooks, I have decided to no longer accept books or other products for review. I do love to mention cookbooks I’m using and talk about my favorite products on the blog, but when I do that I enjoy being able to tell my readers that I bought them myself. (If you’re a food blogger who has written a book, feel free to drop me a line to let me know about it and if it interests me I’ll be happy to buy your book.)

Working with Other Bloggers:
I don’t use guest posts of any kind, and don’t participate in any kind of sponsored campaigns. I am happy to have my work included in blogger recipe round-ups (as long as it doesn’t include the actual recipe and uses a format that features a photo plus a link to get the recipe from my site.)

  1. Hi Kayln! First of all I want to say I use your website almost every time i cook and absolutely love it! But is there any way you could post how many calories are in a serving of one of your dishes and what the serving size is? I would really appreciate it. Or how can I figure that out on my own

  2. Hello Kalyn, I recently started Southbeach to kick those last "baby" pounds and I am so incredibly thankful for you and your blog! Thank you, a thousand times, for helping me put together my menu every week and for enabling me to lose the 10lbs I've lost in the last 4 weeks!

To show my appreciation… I'm passing along this recipe that a girlfriend recently introduced me to. It is a sauce that I use as a salad dressing and it is so fabulous! I pour it atop a bowl of cooked cold kidney beans, chopped raw broccoli, spinach, cilantro, grated carrot and dollop of sour cream.

1/2 cup oil (I used light olive oil)
    1/2 cup almonds
    1/3 cup brewers yeast
1/3 cup garbanzo beans – drained
    1/4 cup soybeans
    1/2 cup water
    1/2 cup lemon juice
    2 garlic cloves
    1/2 tsp salt
    1 tsp curry powder

Blend nuts, garlic, beans and oil in food processor. Then blend in yeast and liquids one at a time. Puree until smooth. Voila!

    Again, Thank you!

    Stephanie Vigil

  3. Thank you Lisa. I appreciate the kind thoughts.

  4. I have lurked around your web for several years — and sometimes am quite serious about being SBD faithful — and always enjoy your recipes.

I was saddened to read that you lost your father and wish you peace and comfort as you and your family move forward sustained with love and memories. Create more!

    Sending hugs and warm wishes.

  5. Hi Kalyn,
So sorry for your loss. It is always hard to lose a parent … especially one who was obviously so respected and loved. May you and your LARGE family find comfort in one another sharing your fond memories of your father/grandfather/great grandfather.
    Hugs to you all,
One of your newest Blog Followers,

  6. Kathy, so glad you are enjoying the blog; congrats on the 5 pounds!

  7. Hi Kalyn,
I too (like so many others), am so happy to have found your blog!! I've lost weight before on the SBD and like it, but found myself eating the same things over and over and getting bored. Now that I've found your amazing site I don't think that will happen this time! I've been back on the diet a week and have already lost 5 lbs. trying many of your delicious recipes. Two of my favorites were the Asian Lettuce Wraps and Amy's White Chicken Chili … but I have seen many more I want to try. I have two boys getting married this year and have good motivation to loose weight, but having found your site I hardly feel like I'm on a diet!!
I'm spreading the word and telling all my friends about discovering you too!!
    Thanks, Kathy

  8. Pat you're very welcome, glad you liked it!

  9. Thank you for your frozen tomato sauce recipe. It seems simple and that's what I like!! I'm 71 and my canning days are over. And, there aren't a ton of ingredients. Most of the recipes I found were for "spaghetti sauce" and yours is just plain ol' tomato sauce. Again, my sincere thanks.

  10. Amy glad you like the blog. I am happy to hear you read the book, and I promise you, this diet will work if you stick to it. Happy cooking!

  11. I just started South Beach and am thrilled to find your blog! After reading the book, I was still wondering what on earth I was going to eat every day. Now I know! Thanks so much. — Amy

  12. Kate, I'm glad you enjoying the blog. Thanks for all the nice feedback.

  13. Kalyn,
I LOVE LOVE LOVE your site! I can not even tell you how excited I was to find it. My husband and I did southbeach 2 years ago after I had my first baby, and were very successful at it. (75 pounds total!) Now after baby number 2, we need to get back into it. I do have to admit when we started it last time, that I was very discouraged by the recipes that I had found. I love to cook, and not being able to find variety, and good recipes was the hardest part for me. I have all the southbeach cookbooks, I made up a lot of my own last time, and found a few good ones on other sites, but nothing like what you have! I almost ran out of ink printing the recipes that I want to try! We may even be able to go on 4 weeks of phase 1 with no problem! Your pictures are amazing, and your so descriptive! I love how you put your own little hints in the recipes. I wish that I would have found this website 2 years ago. It would have been a lot easier to stay on track for a lifetime! Thank you so much for your hard work! This site is a MUST HAVE for any southbeacher!
I have signed up for your E-mails and look forward to them, and to trying all the recipes that I have printed!
I do actually have just one question… you mentioned in one of your posts that you were going to message someone about the black bean brownie recipe… I found that in the new cook book that southbeach has.. Did you have a bad opinion of it or something? Just wondering, cause that is one thing that my husband really misses, and wondered how there were..
Thanks again, and keep the recipes coming! You are awesome!

  14. G, welcome and good luck on the diet this time around. I hope the blog will be useful for you!

  15. Hi and Happy New Year!
I lost 30 pounds a few years back and I wish I had known about your site! I am back on South Beach with my daughter and I am so excited to try some of your great recipes. Your site has inspired me!
    thanks so much!
    G the lunch Lady!!!!

  16. Jennette has now re-coded the search bar so I would love to know if that has fixed the issue for you; thanks!

  17. Thanks for the nice feedback about the site. I will forward this to my web designer, but I think she will need to know what browser and operating system you're using to be able to duplicate the problem. I'm hoping you'll come back and leave that information. I'm puzzled because I use the search bar myself all day long and haven't had any problems.

  18. Hello,

I love your website, and honestly use it several times a week. In fact, I've referred it to many of my friends, and they too love it. In the past I could easily search your site, but since the change, whether I'm using a Mac or a PC, I can't type in your search field. Is there something I'm not doing or that I need to download to make it work again. I do love your site and miss that option. Thank you for your time.

  19. Thanks Bonnie. That's one of the features I couldn't have with my old template and I really liked it on other blogs.

  20. I LOVE the new section on your blog, after each recipe, that tells me other recipes I might like. I know this will be SO helpful!
