Friday Night Photos: Two Lunches at Mazza Middle Eastern Cuisine in Salt Lake City

Start your meal at Mazza Middle Eastern Cuisine with Hummus, Baba Ganooj, and Muhamara.

For many years I’ve been a fan of Mazza Middle Eastern Cuisine in Salt Lake City.  They started with a small self-serve cafe in the 15th and 15th neighborhood, close to fun destinations like The King’s English Bookshop and Fresco Italian Cafe.  Then a few years ago the second location opened in a beautiful space in the 9th and 9th shopping district.  Mazza is one of my favorite places  for lunch with friends, and I had lunch there months ago with Dara from Cookin’ Canuck and took a few photos.  Then this week I went there again with Maria from Two Peas and Their Pod and took a few more photos.  You’d think I now have a wide variety of dishes to show you, wouldn’t you?

Well, actually I ordered the same thing both times, and Dara and Maria both ordered the same thing.  It is interesting to see the differences in the photos though, due to different cameras, lenses, and light conditions.  If you’re a fan of Mazza, what would you have ordered if you’d been having lunch with us?

When I went with Dara I ordered my favorite Schwarma Platter and took this photo.  Judging from the photo, it may have been one of those gray winter days Salt Lake struggles with.

Dara ordered the Falafel in Pita Bread, and we were having so much fun talking that she had a couple of bites before I realized I hadn’t taken a photo!

When I went with Maria, once again I ordered my favorite Schwarma Platter.  It was a nice bright spring day, plus I used a different camera and lens to get a better photo this time.

And I was a little more on the ball to capture the Falafel in Pita Bread before Maria started eating it!

I love everything about Mazza, and it’s a restaurant where I’ve never had a bad meal.  And I actually have tried a few different things on the menu, even though I have a hard time passing up the Schwarma Platter!

No one at Mazza knew that I was a food blogger, and we paid for our own lunch.   I don’t do formal restaurant reviews, but occasionally I like to share photos of places where I’ve had great meals.  You can read about some other places I’ve enjoyed in Salt Lake City Restaurants, Restaurants in Utah Cities, and Restaurants in U.S. Cities.
