Here’s a peek into what the Denny family brings for the annual Super Bowl party!
This year the Denny Family Super Bowl Party was moved to my brother Dave’s house, and as usual the family ignored my suggestions for diet-friendly Super Bowl party food and brought all kinds of fattening treats. Some years I manage to be pretty moderate in what I eat, but this year I indulged more than I should have. Good thing the Super Bowl is only once a year! Forseveralyears I’ve been sharing photos of food from the party, and this year one of the healthier offerings was the 7-Layer Mexican Dip pictured above. If you ate this with celery or sweet mini-peppers, it would even be pretty South Beach Diet friendly, but of course no one does!
(All these photos were taken rather on the fly and with my old camera, but I still like documenting what we have for the party. And in case anyone clicks on the links above and wonders about Super Bowl 2008, I was sick that year and missed the party!)
Here’s another shot of the dip, showing you that we have some picky people who won’t eat olives, so one end has just tomatoes. No comment.
This was a delicious bean salad that would be pretty South Beach Friendly if you left out the corn.
Little Smokies made into Pigs in a Blanket are one of our regular offerings every year. No way to make these diet friendly, so don’t eat too many!
My brother-in-law Kelly always outdoes himself with chocolate covered strawberries, and this year he also made chocolate covered bananas.
My sister Pam made a big batch of her Parmesan Breadsticks to go with the soup everyone was assigned to bring. (Soup in a crockpot = boring photos, so I didn’t take too many pictures of the soup!)
It seems like there’s a rule in my family that every Superbowl party has to have cupcakes.
My niece Kristen brought these Baked Sweet Potato Fries, definitely another one of the healthier offerings.
And my own contribution was this Black Bean and Beef Chili, which tasted much better than it looks in this photo! Did you go to a Super Bowl party this year? If so, let us know in the comments about what yummy foods you had at your party.
