Ten Favorite Grilling Recipes and Tips for Grilling for National Barbecue Month 2011

Did you know that May is National Barbecue Month?   I love late spring when it’s finally time to get serious about cooking on the grill again (even though my grill is on a covered deck and hooked into the natural gas f my house and I’ve been known to grill when there’s snow on the ground.)  I’ve been writing about grilling for quite a while, both here on my blog and on BlogHer.com, so this post is going to spotlight my ten favorite grilling recipes from last summer, plus lead you back to some other grilling round-ups and grilling posts you might have missed in the past.  There are ideas here for grilled chicken, pork, and beef, as well as grilled vegetables, grilled zucchini pizza, and even some grilled salads!

The first picture at the top of this post is a long-time favorite recipe for Grilled Chicken Sanpete Kabobs.  You can also use this same marinade on turkey breast (which is what they do in Utah’s Sanpete County, where the recipe came from.)

Cooking the sweet potatoes on the grill adds a wonderful flavor to this Grilled Sweet Potato Salad with Green Onion, Basil, Thyme, and Feta.

Shown here used on chicken breasts, the Savory Marinade for Grilled Chicken, Pork, or Beef might be the only marinade recipe you’ll ever need.  The marinade is low carb, sugar-free, and gluten-free, and I’m betting it might taste great on tofu too if anyone is so inclined.
I don’t know how I came up with the idea for Grilled Zucchini Greek Salad, but I love this combination of grilled zucchini, tomatoes, Kalamata olives, and Feta cheese.  I season the zucchini with Greek seasoning to give it extra flavor that makes this dish so good.

I don’t eat a lot of beef compared to other foods, but I love this recipe for Cuban Flank Steak with a marinade flavored with lime juice, cumin, oregano, onion, and garlic.
Grilled Sausage and Summer Squash with Herbs, Capers, Kalamata Olives, and Lemon is an entire dinner cooked on the grill.  This was easy to make and bursting with lots of interesting flavors.
This Grilled Garlic Chicken with Roasted Red Pepper Aioli Sauce is something I made over and over last summer.  And if you’re looking for an appetizer, the Roasted Red Pepper Aioli Sauce is great with grilled bread.
On the Kalyn’s Kitchen Facebook Page, someone told me recently that she’s already made these Grilled Pork Kabobs with Spicy Peanut Butter, Sesame, and Soy Sauce Marinade twice this year!
I love the combination of flavors in these Mustard, Lemon, and Coriander Grilled Chicken Breasts with Lemon-Basil Vinaigrette.
Finally, one of my most popular grilling posts last year was these Grilled Zucchini Pizza Slices, which are mini “pizzas” made of grilled zucchini topped with pizza toppings.   I made these with slices of 8-Ball Zucchini, but you can also use slices of extra large zucchinis.

This weekend I won’t be grilling anything because I’m hosting a wedding shower for my beautiful niece Alyson who’s getting married in June, but if you’re grilling I’d love to hear in the comments about what you’ll be cooking.
