Montreal Steak Seasoning is a great way to add flavor to steak or other grilled meats, and this is something I’ve made for a spice blend to give away for gifts. And sometimes the steak rubs you buy have added sugar, and I don’t like that either. So this post has my recipe for Sugar-Free Montreal Steak Seasoning; enjoy!

Steak is something a lot of Americans love, and of course nicely marbled steak is perfect for low-carb and Keto diet. But you can also eat steak on the original South Beach diet, although if you’re following South Beach you should choose steaks that are less than 10% fat. That’s not actually that hard to do, if you’re willing to do a little trimming.

I’d been experimenting with a few different versions of Montreal Steak Seasoning that I found online to come up with a combination I really liked, so I rubbed the steak with a tiny bit of olive oil, followed by the steak seasoning blend, then cooked it on the grill, and the steak was delicious!

What ingredients do you need?

  • Paprika; I used Szeged Paprika
  • black pepper
  • kosher salt
  • garlic powder or granulated garlic
  • onion powder or granulated onion
  • ground coriander
  • dill weed
  • Cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine all spices in a small bowl and stir together.
  2. Store unused portion in a glass jar with a tight-fitting lid.
  3. When using, be careful to apply the steak seasoning with one hand and rub with the other so you don’t contaminate the unused portion.

Notes

Makes a little more than a cup, you could cut recipe in half if you don’t cook beef that often although it keeps for a long time. I used about 1 1/2 teaspoon of this mixture to season each steak.
