Today I’m going to show you how to make quick and easy Air Fryer Pizza in less than ten minutes! And with the low-carb crust options and sauce I’m recommending, your Air Fryer Pizza can be pretty low in carbs too. In face, after we tested all the variations for this easy pizza made in the Air Fryer, we were happy to discover that the lowest-carb crust was the one Kara and I liked best!

It was actually months ago that I stumbled on an old recipe for Flatbread Pizza in the archives of the blog and got inspired to create this Air Fryer version. In the old days I made flatbread pizza in my Oster toaster oven (affiliate link), so if you don’t have an Air Fryer you can use that link to make one of these easy pizzas in the oven.

After I got inspired by that old recipe, Kara and I experimented with Air Fryer Pizza for weeks, testing different crusts and looking for low-carb pizza sauce, so today I’m sharing the Air Fryer Pizza instructions with lots of options! If you crave pizza at times but want an option without so many carbs, I hope you’ll give one of these pizzas a try!

What ingredients do you need for this recipe?

(This is only a list of ingredients; please scroll down for complete printable recipe. Or if you use the JUMP TO RECIPE link at the top of the page, it will take you directly to the complete recipe.)

  • low-carb Tortilla, flatbread, or pita bread for pizza crust
  • Rao’s Pizza Sauce (affiliate link) or other low-sugar sauce
  • Dried Oregano (affiliate link)
  • grated Mozzarella cheese
  • reduced-fat pepperoni (or use regular pepperoni if you prefer)
  • mushrooms
  • sliced black olives

What toppings did I use on my Air Fryer Pizza?

For the three pizza variations you see in this recipe I used my favorite pizza toppings of pepperoni, mushrooms, and black olives, along with my favorite Rao’s Pizza Sauce (affiliate link), which is the lowest-carb pizza sauce I’ve found. But you can use sausage, ground beef, salami, ham, or other low-carb meats and vegetables on your Air Fryer Pizza, so have fun experimenting with your favorites!

Which Air Fryer Did I Use for Air Fryer Pizza?

I’m a huge fan of the Cuisinart Convection Air Fryer Toaster Oven (affiliate link) which is the one I used for this recipe. This air fryer has a larger basket, which let me fit even the large pieces of flatbread, but even smaller air fryer models should be able to fit some of the crust options we tried. (Air fryer links are affiliate links.)

Tips for making Air Fryer Pizza:

(This is only a summary of the steps for the recipe; please scroll down for complete printable recipe. Or if you use the JUMP TO RECIPE link at the top of the page, it will take you directly to the complete recipe.)

  1. If you’re making pizza, the sauce and the crust are usually the source of most of the carbs. We looked around and Rao’s Pizza Sauce (affiliate link) was the lowest carb sauce we found by far, with only 2 carbs in 1/4 cup of sauce.
  2. The lowest-carb crust option (and the one we liked best) was Mission Carb Balance Low-Carb Tortillas (affiliate link). We used the white soft taco size, which has 4 net carbs per tortilla. (You can see more options for low-carb tortillas I like in this post with recipes for low-carb tortillas.)
  3. The next crust option we tried was Flatout Multigrain Flatbread with Flax (affiliate link). These have 13 net carbs in one flatbread, but the flatbread is large enough to make two servings for most people.
  4. The final crust option we tested was Joseph’s Low-Carb Pita Bread (affiliate link), a product I buy regularly and love. Those made a slightly sturdier pizza crust and the pita bread has 7 net carbs.
  5. If you make a pizza with any of these crust options, you’ll need to test one pizza in your air fryer to get the timing exactly right. (Kara has the same Air Fryer model I have, but when she tried the recipe the pizza cooked a bit more quickly in her Air Fryer.)
  6. We thought that sprinkling a little Dried Oregano (affiliate link) over the sauce before you add cheese definitely gave a more authentic pizza flavor.
  7. Finally, ingredients like sausage, ground beef, mushrooms, or bell pepper will of course have to be precooked before they’re used as toppings on this pizza.
  8. I did enjoy the pizza you see in the top photo that had both mushrooms and olives, but truthfully plain pepperoni and cheese is the pizza variation I’ve made the most! And eliminating mushrooms and olives makes the pizza even lower in carbs.
  9. I’m going to give you some quick details for each pizza variation below, but scroll down for the recipe with nutritional information.

Air Fryer Tortilla Pizza collage

Making Air Fryer Pizza with Mission Carb Balance Tortilla crust:

  1. Preheat the Air Fryer to 450F/230C for 5 minutes if your air fryer needs that. (Preheating makes the pizza cook slightly quicker with any Air Fryer.)
  2. Put tortilla in the Air Fryer basket and cook 60 seconds, then flip the tortilla over and cook 60 seconds more.
  3. Spread 2 T Rao’s Pizza Sauce (affiliate link) over the toasted tortilla, going as close to the edge as you can. Sprinkle Dried Oregano (affiliate link) over the sauce if desired.
  4. Sprinkle 1/3 cup Mozzarella cheese over the sauce and use your fingers to get it evenly distributed over the surface of the pizza.
  5. Put toppings like pepperoni, sausage, ground beef, mushrooms, olives, peppers, or other ingredients on top of the cheese.
  6. Put the pizza in the Air Fryer and cook about 2 minutes 30 seconds, or until the cheese is all melted and browned and toppings are sizzling hot. (I would start to check after about 2 minutes, especially if you have a different Air Fryer model.)

Notes

We used Hormel 25% Less Fat Pepperoni for this pizza, but use any pepperoni you like.

Nutritional information is calculated using the low-carb tortilla option. Total carbs for a pizza serving with pepperoni, mushrooms and olives are 9.7 net carbs for the low-carb tortilla crust, 14.9 net carbs for the flatbread crust, and 15.4 net carbs for the low-carb pita bread crust. (If you eliminate the mushrooms and olives and make a pizza with just sauce, cheese, and pepperoni, that will be 4.7 fewer carbs for each crust option.)
